A thriller that's as cold, calculating and passionless as its central character - a hired assassin, philosophically played by Charles Bronson, teaming again with director Michael Winner, who made the first three Death Wish films. The director's well-oiled techniques generate some explosive excitement as usual, although one cannot help but think the makers should have heeded the advice given by Bronson to protegé Jan-Michael Vincent when he tells him: 'You've been watching too many late-night movies.' No doubt, though, Bronson and Winner could have churned out these violent morality plays in their sleep.
