A dramatised history of aviation narrated by director Charles Frend (although he's not one of the six directors who made this film). Laurence Olivier plays Lunardi, an early balloonist, and Michael Rennie may be spotted in a tiny role. A mixture of newsreel footage and reconstructed dramatic scenes, the film was a hardly a success in any of its forms, and sat on the shelf for some time before release. Arthur Bliss' splendid music score deserves to accompany a better film.
