Terence Young, who directed the Bond films Dr No, From Russia with Love and Thunderball, made this thriller on location in France. The script does not do justice to the tension of the original novel - Ride the Nightmare by Richard Matheson, himself a prolific screenplay-writer - but Charles Bronson does all that can be expected of him, and Liv Ullmann's anguished performance as his wife will reward her aficionados.
