Star Ray Milland has described this western - which boasts some magnificent colour photography - as one of the films he most enjoyed making. He plays a trick-sharpshooter who may or may not be a famous gunman. Good supporting cast includes MacDonald Carey, Mona Freeman, Harry Carey Snr, Ian Wolfe, Peggy Knudsen, Hope Emerson and Frank Faylen. As an expert horseman and marksman, Milland was at home on the Hollywood range, despite this being only his second western in 57 films. And none of the 10 top stuntmen hired for the production was required to stand in for him in the man-sized rough-and-tumble action sequences.
