This western comedy is a kind of sideshoot from W C Fields' famous comedy, The Old Fashioned Way, in that it deals with a travelling repertory company in 19th century America, with an awful old ham (in this case played by Vincent Price, who thoroughly enjoys himself) as its leading player. Three-time Oscar-winner Walter Brennan is also in good form as the hoary old outlaw who joins the troupe, while Donald O'Connor and the improbably-named Gale Storm (real name: Josephine Cottle) keep the flag flying for the younger generation.
