Bright, snappy comedy with some funny dialogue, some of it delivered by a 10-year-old Natalie Wood, who plays one of harassed hero Fred MacMurray's two troublesome daughters. Although this kind of comedy was passing its sell-by date at the end of the Forties, this, thanks to the players, is an unexpectedly likeable example. As usual, though, as in all films in which she appeared, crow-voiced Thelma Ritter steals the show.
