The Family Rico

Crime syndicate, Eddie Rico, is torn between his love for a younger brother who defects, and his own loyalty to the organisation.

Underworld pressure is brought to bear on crime boss Ben Gazzara in this colourful remake of Phil Karlson's 1957 version of The Brothers Rico, based on the novel of that title by Georges Maigret Simenon. Besides Gazzara's typically intense performance, there's some florid emoting from his screen brothers, Sal Mineo and James Farentino. The Godfather it isn't, but it's gripping all the way.
