From the opening shots of Doris Day singing Whipcrackaway on top of a stagecoach, we're in for a classic, albeit cheesy, musical. She plays Calamity Jane, who sets out to show that anything a man can do, she can do better. Only Wild Bill Hickok (Howard Keel) seems unimpressed. And so it takes a whole string of songs, including Secret Love, before Jane can convince him that despite her tough exterior, she just wants to be loved.
