A star-heavy film version of Dylan Thomas' famous'`radio play for voices' But the big names, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Peter O'Toole and Glynis Johns, have to yield best to Rachel Thomas, a joy as Mary Ann Sailors, and Talfryn Thomas, quietly hilarious as Pugh the Poisoner. Most of the other players (and director Andrew Sinclair) seem to approach Thomas' material with too much respect, leaving it on the fringes of some picturesque rural images.
