David G Brown wrote and starred in this rites of passage drama, playing an insecure youngster with dreams of being a baseball player instead of the farm worker his father wants. That wry character Matt Clark has a good supporting role, but the film is mainly notable today for a brief early appearance from star-to-be Kevin Costner, who had his own baseball saga on screen in 1989, the superb Field of Dreams.
