A fact-based, gutsy account of the trial and conviction of Caryl Chessman, sentenced to death for being the robber and rapist known as the Red Light Bandit. The subject was previously filmed for the cinema some years ago under the title Cell 2455 Death Row. In this version the role of Chessman is powerfully played by Alan Alda; co-starred as an attorney is Talia Shire who then and subsequently made such an impression in the Rocky films. A very strong cast by TV movie standards includes such distinctive actors as John Hillerman, John P Ryan, James Sikking and Barnard Hughes in supporting roles.
