A handsomely mounted if basically empty romance, glossily set against the Napoleonic wars in 19th-century Spain. Director Irng Rapper moves it along so persuasively that he almost makes us believe its story of a nun (Carroll Baker) who falls in love with a handsome dragoon (Roger Moore) and runs away from her convent. Such professionalism is hardly surprising, coming from the man who directed Now Voyager and The Corn is Green. Rapper died in December 1999 at the age of 101!
