Revenge stories are always emotionally satisfying. Sweet Revenge is strongly cast and acted well enough to make you forget most of the latent absurdities in its plot. Tall, smouldering Kelly McGillis is just right as the girl whose marriage to an army officer (Alec Baldwin) gives her the chance to avenge the injustice done to her soldier brother by another officer years before. This last part provides a change of image much appreciated by Kevin Dobson, for years typed as good guys following his years as Bobby Crocker in the Kojak series. The brother is played by Merritt Buttrick, who died tragically young, and the tight ensemble cast is rounded out by Alfre Woodard, Savannah Smith, Wings Hauser, Helen Hunt and Richard Bradford.
