This tough Western gives the commendable Richard Boone a role he can sink his teeth into. He's the battle- and memory-scarred commander of a grossly undermanned desert Cavalry garrison, who gets saddled with three young and inexperienced lieutenants with whom to fight the Indians. In addition to its tough action, the film is a real bonanza for star-spotters. Besides Richard Chamberlain in his first major role as another of the lieutenants, there is George Hamilton, pop guitarist Duane Eddy and that granite-faced man of action Charles Bronson.
