A relatively lesser-known John Wayne film from the Forties, although there's no reason why it should be, apart from having been made by a studio in difficulties (RKO Radio). It's no stodgy boardroom drama, either, but a sometimes spectacular action adventure story with some hair-raising storm scenes, brilliantly photographed in Technicolor. Wayne and co-star Laraine Day reputedly didn't get on together, and it shows in the stiffness of their romantic scenes.
