No Woody Allen comedy is funny all the way through, but this one comes closer than most. Woody's been frozen alive and awoken by scientists 200 years later, only to find that nothing has changed except clothes, buildings and sex (it's automatised). He also has a robot dog, which disturbs him. `Is he housebroken? ' he asks, `or will he leave little batteries all over the floor? ' Diane Keaton was never funnier as a female clown than here, and she and Woody go together like Laurel and Hardy. Ultimately, they join the revolution, which makes Woody remember another female acquaintance. `Yes,' he sighs, `she was arrested for selling pornographic join-the-dots books.'
