A musical that continues the story of entertainer Fanny Brice, begun in Funny Girl. Barbra Streisand is so right for this role it's amazing, but the film is also illuminated by co-stars James Caan, excellent as the shambling showman Billy Rose, and Roddy McDowall, making a lot out of not very much screen time as Fanny's asexual acolyte. The second half of Fanny's story, although good, old-fashioned entertainment, isn't quite as inspired as the first. Omar Sharif repeats his role as Nicky Arnstein from the original.
