For cavalry versus Indians, read farmers versus spiders. The situations are just the same - only the methods of defence and attack have changed. The story begins with a marauding attack by the wpiders. Gradually, they become emboldened and finally mass on the horizon in their thousands, encircling the human survivors at their homestead. All the scenes involving the spiders are fine: director John 'Bud' Cardos gives us some nice touches, especially involving spiders scuttling after things, and raises some very real suspense on one or two occasions. But the arachnids are let down by their human co-stars, none of whom act very well - and there is a fatuous romantic sub-plot.
