This is a literal transplantation of a horror comic to the screen with the accent on the comic - but it's hard to know whether to laugh at it or with it. 'Where do you come from? ' gasps one of two very tiresome children. 'From the bog,' chortles the jolly green giant of the title, though he turns serious when romanced by healthily curvy Heather Locklear. 'Please don't,' he admonishes. 'This will never work.' That's OK, she reassures him: she's a vegetarian. Well folks, there's also a plot about mad scientist Louis Jourdan (originally responsible for the hero's state of vegetation) who plays the organ in between creating horrific mutants in his search for eternal life. 'You sold your soul to the Devil,' Locklear accuses him. He smiles: 'Let's just say he has a lease with an option to buy.' DC comics have a lot to answer for but at least their monstrous offspring, though badly acted, is never dull.
