It's party time at Bernie's beach house, but the host is late. Murdered that is. But the world refuses to admit that Bernie has passed away, and life goes on as before. Naturally his first guests (Andrew McCarthy, Jonathan Silverman) should report the corpse to the cops, but when they cop a look at Bernie's weekend lifestyle, they decide to delay matters just a wee while. The problem is that, in creating the impression that Bernie's alive, they fool the departing killer (who is like a sort of demented Ken Dodd) as well. All this makes for a jolly, occasionally over-energetic jape with some fast and furious fun towards the end, and a staggering performance as Bernie by Terry Kiser who, through thick and thin, never bats an eyelid. They should strike a special Oscar for best supporting stiff.
