Exquisite fantasy from the German director Wim Wenders, whose angels watch over the city of Berlin and enter into the lives of its inhabitants. These include a French trapeze artist with whom one of the angels becomes infatuated to the point of wanting to renounce his heavenly status; and an American film actor making a picture set in the city. Berlin and the actors are wonderfully photographed by Henri Alekan and Peter Falk turns in a literally divine performance as the visiting actor that steals the show.
