Sean Connery plays a Russian submarine skipper planning to defect (or is he? ) with a fistful of nuclear weapons aboard.

The Russkies let the Americans think Connery is a madman about to blow the US apart so both sides could be seeking to eliminate him - until wily CIA analyst Jack Ryan (Alec Baldwin) sees through it all.

Connery is great as the only Russian with an Edinburgh accent and Baldwin is good in Die Hard director John McTiernan's super-slick action movie that's ultra-tense througthout.
