Veteran American director Robert Altman applies some magnificent touches to this sweeping canvas dedicated to the life of hapless Dutch master Vincent Van Gogh and his art dealer brother, Theo. Playing the tragic artist is the versatile Tim Roth, while Paul Rhys is Theo. On an interesting note, Vincent and Theo begins by acknowledging the central irony of Van Gogh's career - the £22.5 million bid at Christie's for a painting of sunflowers by an artist who managed to complete only one sale... to his brother... during his lifetime.
