Kathryn Bigelow's first solo directorial effort is a post-modern take on the vampire movie, combining bloodlust with the romance of the classic Western - a truly unique film that has gained respect with movie fans the world over. It's not as horrific as you may expect, but is still powerful and, at times, very violent, as a nomadic bloodsucking clan (led by Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton and Jenette Goldstein) wanders the twilight hours in search of prey.
