Great to look at, Ridley Scott's fine, pulsating thriller follows the story of a cop (Tom Berenger) who falls for the witness (Mimi Rogers) he's trying to protect. Then a murderer corners the witness in a powder room and threatens her with disfigurement. In one of his best performances, Berenger is suitably dewy-eyed and strong when he should be as the besotted cop. And as his wife, the abrasive Lorraine Bracco wins the personality battle hands down over Rogers. It's all superbly shot and beautifully dressed and topped off with an explosive showdown.
