This grim and unpalatable morsel was once a successful stage play and still looks like one. You may find it worth wading through the boredom of the first half-hour to reach the meat of the performances by Matthew Modine and Kevin Anderson as primevally reclusive brothers and especially by Albert Finney as the gangster they kidnap. How retribution catches up with them all is unconvincingly contrived, but there are some good individual scenes, particularly the one in which Finney tries to teach Modine to keep his explosive temper in check.
