Peter Ustinov stars for the sixth and last time as ace Belgian detective Poirot, and his amusing turn plus a bit of glitz help to save this routine Agatha Christie whodunit set in Thirties Palestine. Piper Laurie, though miscast as the blackmailing ex-prison warder ogress, has her moments before being bumped off in the desert. Lauren Bacall, Hayley Mills, Carrie Fisher and David Soul are among the usual suspects.
