Evil prince Chris Sarandon wants to marry lovely bride Robin Wright - but she has other plans... With Pythonesque shafts of humour and well-known stars beneath mounds of make-up (Billy Crystal and Carol Kane, for example), this is a sweet fairy tale. The playing is great, especially from Sarandon. 'I've got my country's 500th anniversary to arrange,' he complains,'my wife to murder and Guilder (a neighbouring kingdom) to blame for it. I'm swamped.' American heroine Robin Wright's English accent is good, young hero Cary Elwes is handsome and dashing and Peter Falk's storyteller is a fun creation.
