Slow motion. Dark photography. Flashbacks to the big game and golden days. Yes folks, the great American masterpiece bites the dust again - especially with a tragic ending plain from the first few moments of its scene. Disillusionment runs riot: can the American Dream be as nightmarish as this? Depressing and predictable throughout, the film fails to enliven familiar characters and shows no subtlety. Meg Ryan's personality, though, shines through, even in a ridiculously obvious role. This would be an attractive performance in a good film; in a bad one, it's outstanding. And Kiefer Sutherland is also convincing in a poorly written role.
