Director Nicolas Roeg in playful mood, toying with his audience as he describes the hallucinations of a mind in breakdown. Linda (Theresa Russell) contemplates suicide, but demons torment her, chiefly the vision of her son (Gary Oldman, doing a satanic variation on Norman Wisdom) returned from her past to give her some fleeting happiness. Oldman is the dynamo that galvanises this bizarre comedy into life. See it, be manipulated and enjoy it: this is Roeg at his most Roegish (TM)
