A fast-moving thriller where actions speak louder than words. That's just as well, since director James Glickenhaus has filled the sound-track with so much background noise that 30 per cent of the dialogue flies by before you can grasp it. It takes about 20 minutes before you accept this in the spirit that it doesn't matter. Then you can settle down to a rough, tough, spectacularly action-packed story that's not to be taken at all seriously. RoboCop's Peter Weller is a legal aid lawyer who teams up with scruffy undercover cop Sam Elliott to prove a disreputable client innocent of murder - and clear up police corruption and a city-wide drugs ring for good measure. The girls involved are nothing much, but both Weller and Elliott bring a little more to their dialogue than other actors might have done, and that's to their credit. Action is certainly in the 'terrific' league, especially a shootout in Times Square that careers on to a crash in New York Harbor. Very good stuff if you've had a hard day decorating the kitchen and want to be consistently well entertained without having to concentrate too much.
