The Fright Night gang are back and boy are they in trouble. Roddy McDowall is locked in a psychiatric hospital, William Ragsdale has been bitten and kidnapped by the chief lady vampire and Lin is trapped with a vampire doctor by a lonely railroad. Can they get themselves out of this? Fans needn't worry - worse is to come. This sequel is pretty lively once it gets going after a slow start. No wonder McDowall wanted to repeat his role as the horror-film telehost forced to turn genuine vampire-killer. It's his best opportunity for years, and he's aces in it. Traci Lin's as nubile as intrepid heroine as the genre's thrown up in ages and Jonathan Fries as a goofy vampire-cum-werewolf the best of the baddies. Special makeup drips the requisite grot, goo and gore but isn't over-used. Not quite as good (or scary) as the original, this is nonetheless a spirited creep into the crypt.
