A Marvel Comic Book hero-type film that shows even less regard for its audience that for logic. Familiar elements are thrown into the 'plot' in haphazard fashion by director W D Richter (who would do better work later), while neurosurgeon super-hero Banzai, played uncharismatically by Peter Weller, takes on aliens from outer space who want to... well, who knows or cares... something to do with an overthruster that can take you through mountains... I think. Matt Clark, at that time a welcome character star with his disgruntled, hangdog looks, plays the senator who tries to keep track of it all, while John Lithgow as the villain looks as though he enjoyed himself rather more than I did. Great cast, though, and brilliant Metrocolour photography by Fred Koenekamp.
