A hilariously inept thriller which seems to have some kind of pretensions to being an art movie. The story is every twist as hard to understand as 'The Big Sleep' but only one tenth as much fun. And Christopher Petit's over-lingering direction and arty set-ups, which flaunt rather than conceal the low budget, make the running time seem over-long. Even though the sordid screenplay consists largely of four-letter words, grunts and enigmatic phrases, Will Patton and Robbie Coltrane are interesting enough players to still come across as intriguing personalities.
