This drama, first presented 'live' on American television, bristles with tension. The method it uses - the running time of the film exactly matches the minutes that are running out as friends and family of a convicted murderer desperately seek a reprieve - isn't a new one, but here it works to perfection. Edgy performances by Jeffrey (later a cinema star as Jeff) Fahey (as Graham), Kate Reid (his mother), Josef Sommer, Morgan Freeman and Karen Young keep the seconds ticking away and the suspense mounting.
