The collision of past, present and future has long fascinated Hollywood, and here's a time-travel movie that not only gets golden boy Steven Spielberg's seal of approval (he's executive producer), but has spawned two sequels.
The young Michael J Fox travels from 1985 back to 1955 in a time machine made from a DeLorean car and, while in the past, accidentally stops his parents from meeting and falling in love - with dire consequences for his own future.
How Fox patches up the history he has changed is shown in complex but thoroughly entertaining fashion by director Robert Zemeckis (director of all three 'Future' films), and the year 1955 is re-created with nostalgia and humour.
Christopher Lloyd stands out with an exceptionally zany performance as Dr Emmett Brown, the eccentric inventor of the DeLorean time machine, in an ingenious and ultimately charming time-travel jaunt.
