This exceptionally well-made film about the rise and fall of punk rocker Sid Vicious and his groupie love Nancy Spungen makes about as comfortable an evening as spending an hour and three quarters sitting on barbed wire. Hardly entertainment and that's a fact - but not to be thrust aside either. The performance of Gary Oldman and Chloe Webb, who live their roles to a frightening degree, are just amazing; and at least a small feeling of obsessive romance, even beneath layers of drug-induced stupor, does filter through. Certainly a film of the Eighties' generation and one that you hope won't have to be repeated.
