Whoops - a laugh eclipse. British satire hits rock bottom with a cavernous clang in this awful attempted comedy whose sex, nudity, gore and four-letter words are possible marginally more entertaining than the - er - jokes. Loretta Swit as the US president, is, under impossible circumstances, one of the few performers not high over the top in this story of Britain taking back a Central American colony by force, then threatening a nuclear strike when the invaders kidnap a British princess in retaliation. More suffering might have been pre-empted by a nuclear strike on the whole idea. The sequence depicting the SAS is probably the most over-extended film joke since Pinocchio's nose.
