James Woods plays a man you'll love to hate in this well-begun but spottily developed thriller spoiled by a heavily contrived ending. Woods is a discarded hitman who, with the help of a cop (Brian Dennehy) who writes best sellers, aims to nail the magnate who got him to eliminate business rivals. Dennehy is good and tough as the cop, but it's Woods's film, giving a jolt of guilty pleasure watching him dispatch his victims.
