Four talents who venture all too rarely into the cinema - actors Sandy Dennis and Ian McKellen, writer Margaret Drabble (here adapting her own novel The Millstone) and director Waris Hussein - are involved in this story of a young graduate and the decisions she has to make on finding herself pregnant. The characters remain strangely unsympathetic and don't involve one despite Sandy Dennis' delicate portrayal.
