Thirties' screen star Elisabeth Bergner made a comeback to the screen in this beautifully photographed (John Coquillon using colour by Movielab) horror film, as the high priestess of a coven in 16th century England, who summons up an avenging spirit to destroy her enemies. Also in the cast, in her only British film, is Swedish actress Essy Persson, who attracted international attention as the nymphomaniac nurse in I a Woman. The ending is likely to both surprise and shock.
