In this savage thriller, David Warner and his gang of not-so-jolly cut-throats, including Dudley Sutton and Don Henderson, indulge in a feast of eye-ball rolling that makes Long John Silver seem like a shrinking violet by comparison, as they capture writer Michael Caine and his son and subject them to a nightmare of terror and torture. The whole of Michael Ritchie's film has about it the air of an X-rated pantomime, handsomely photographed by Bill Taylor on some attractive Caribbean locations, and based on a novel by Peter Benchley, of Jaws fame.
