Of course, this has nothing to do with Jackie Kennedy and Aristotle Onassis. It just happens to be about the wife of an assassinated American president who, having overcome her grief, marries an old friend, a Greek shipping tycoon. The subsequent emptiness of Aegean high life, as well as its scenic splendour, are skilfully if glossily emphasised by director J Lee Thompson, scriptwriter Mort Fine and cameraman Tony Richmond. Anthony Quinn exudes power as the boisterous, self-made millionaire; his performance just about keeps the cheaper romantic qualities of the plot at arm's length.
