Karl Malden inherits Lionel Barrymore's role as Captain Disko Troop in this spirited remake of the classic 1937 film version of Kipling's famous yarn. Less successfully cast are Jonathan Kahn as the spoiled little rich boy (originally Freddie Bartholomew) and Ricardo Montalban as the Portuguese fisherman Manuel (a role which won Spencer Tracy an Oscar in 1937). Malden's presence keeps the enterprise afloat.
