Tales of fright weren't all that common in the British cinema before Hammer Films came into their own, but this was sufficiently chilling to persuade the Americans to title it Terror House over there. Joyce Howard and Tucker McGuire are the teachers trapped on the Yorkshire Moors and James Mason is the sinister composer who is subject to fits - just before he hit the big-time with The Man in Grey. It's hard to believe, but quite strongly put across by director Leslie Arliss and lighting cameraman Gunther Krampf.
