Did Kirsten Dump Jake?

The course of love, whether true or not, never seems to run smooth. And this, it seems, also applies to the beautiful people of Tinseltown.

Money, wealth and fame don't seem to exclude the stars from a classic case of heartbreak.

Poor old Jake Gyllenhaal has allegedly been dumped by Spider-Man star and girlfriend of two years, Kirsten Dunst.

Jake, star of The Day After Tomorrow and Donnie Darko, is rumoured to be devastated, which may explain why he wasn't at Kirsten's side for the Spider-Man 2 UK premiere.

Kirsten was careful when asked about her relationship with Jake, and simply replied:

"I don't discuss my private life."

The pair met through Jake's big sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal, who was filming with Kirsten on Mona Lisa Smile.

Only last month, Jake spoke about how he felt about his relationship with Kirsten:

"Yes, we are in love. She's the only girl for me."

*smash* (our hearts collectively breaking...)

Well, if they have indeed parted ways, perhaps the couple will kiss and make up in true Hollywood style (we hope).
