In a feminine twist of the old Neil Simon comedy The Sunshine Boys, Debbie Reynolds, Shirley MacLaine and Joan Collins play the formerly youthful stars of a 1960s musical film, whose recent hit revival raises the possibility of a reunion despite the fact that none of the women, or their former manager (Elizabeth Taylor) for that matter, can stand the sight of each other. The film's at its best in the opening stages as each of the ageing stars is hauled out of retirement and one can savour the witty one-liners injected into the script by co-writer Carrie Fisher. After that, it slips into increasingly shrill and silly farce.
