A tough, if somewhat over-ambitious thriller - very well acted - which tips its hat to Pulp Fiction in its exploration of the seemingly normal lives of a handful of people in the 12 hours leading up to a shooting between cops and thieves in a Canadian coffee shop. At its core are Sheena (Catherine O'Hara), a wedding planner, and Brian (Stephen Rea), a laconic bug exterminator still haunted by the death of his daughter a year ago. Joe Pantoliano co-stars as a lawyer caught up in the bloody events we see at the start and '24' fans will recognise Leslie Hope, who played Kiefer Sutherland's wife in that highly praised series.
