A low point in the career of Friends star Lisa Kudrow, not to mention her co-star Damon Wayans, this culture-clash comedy about a white Jewish-American heiress and a black hip-hop artist misfires on all cylinders.
Presumably the makers were aiming for satire, but the tone here is plain moronic in a comedy that sees Kudrow whining horribly as the rich spoilt Marci, who sets out to save Daddy's business when Daddy (Richard Benjamin, who also directed) has a heart attack.
And you may not have quite enough disbelief to suspend when you learn that, as Daddy's troubles are caused by the offensive lyrics of an unrepentant rapper (Wayans) signed to his record label, Marci tries to persuade said rapper to clean up his act - and at this point, the two fall in love!
Yes, really! You will want to forget this unfunny, ham-fisted film instantly, but its embarrassing images of Kudrow rapping The Power in My Purse in front of a live black audience will linger longer than you want them to.
