Stanford made his big screen breakthrough with his debut starring role as a teenager who falls for his stepmother in Tadpole.
He was cast as Oscar Grubman, the 15-year-old harbouring desires for Sigourney Weaver, after graduating from Rutgers University, where he studied drama.
His profile was raised higher by his role of the duplicitous Pyro in X-Men 2 and the smaller role of Marcuse in Spike Lee's 25th Hour.
Following his appearance in Tadpole, Stanford was cast in a minor role in Woody Allen's Hollywood Ending.
Upcoming projects include Rick alongside Bill Pullman and the drama The Winter Solstice with Anthony LaPaglia.
